FILIPINO Dennis Orcollo topped the US Open One Pocket Championship 2013 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Monday with a 5-3 win over Corey Deuel of the US in the finals.
The former world No. 1 from Bislig, Surigao del Sur earned the top prize of $7,500, while Deuel settled for the runner-up purse of $4,800.
Losing semifinalists and fellow Filipino Carlo Biado and former World 9-Ball champion Francisco "Django" Bustamante each received $1,500.
Orcollo marched to the finals after blanking Deuel, 4-0.
Relegated to the One-Loss side, Deuel dispatched Biado, 3-2, and denied an all-Filipino final, while getting one more shot of avenging his loss against Orcollo.
On the way to the final, Orcollo beat Michael Reddick, 4-1, followed by victories over Danny Smith, 4-2; L. C. Carter 4-0; Larry Nevel, 4-2; and Chris Bartram, 4-2, before facing Deuel in the hot seat Final in a battle between two unbeaten players.
