DEFENDING champion Dennis Orcollo stayed in the hunt in the World Pool Association China Open, escaping with an 11-10 victory over compatriot Johann Chua to make it to the quarterfinal round of the 9-ball event in Shanghai.
Orcollo will next face Fu Che Wei of Chinese Taipei, who won over Chris Melling of Great Britain, 11-3.
Orcollo, who won the 2012 crown against Lu Hui Chan of Chinese Taipei, joined two other Filipinos in the quarterfinals.
Carlo Biado defeated Ryu Seungwoo of Korea, 11-8, while Lee Van Corteza downed Albin Ouschan of Austria, 11-8.
Biado will take on Fu Juan Bo of China, who won over Chang Jung Lin of Chinese Taipei, 11-7. Corteza will face Ko Pin Yi after the Taiwanese beat Han Haoxiang of China, 11-9.
