Rubilen Amit helps Team Asia take the upper hand early in Queens Cup pool meet
Rubilen Amit and Team Asia hold a slim lead over Team West.

RUBILEN Amit won two hill-hill matches to help Team Asia gain a 3-2 lead after Day One of the 2015 Queens Cup on Thursday at the Resorts World Manila.

Amit beat Karen Corr of Ireland, 4-3, in the singles competition after the Team Asia skipper teamed up with Eunji Park of Korea to beat Ewa Laurance of Sweden and Vivian Villareal of the United States by the same scoreline.

Team Asia also won the 4-on-4 at the start of the competition as Park, Siming Chen of China and Jennifer Chen of Chinese Taipei beat Corr, Laurance, Villareal, and Jennifer Barretta, 4-1.

Team West won two matches on Day One when Corr and Jennifer Barretta of the United States defeated Chen Siming and Jennifer Chen, 4-1, and Villareal beat Park, 4-1, in the final match.

The first team to win 10 matches wins the Queens Cup.
