Prized rookie Andrei Caracut gets more than just passing grade from La Salle coach Juno Sauler

    Jun 13, 2015

FOR a rookie, La Salle coach Juno Sauler is ‘quite satisfied’ with the way new recruit Andrei Caracut has been playing for the team in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup.

Caracut, the 19-year old rookie out of San Beda high school, has so far been impressive for the Green Archers in the pre-season tournament by averaging 15.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in 10 outings.

Incidentally, Caracut will be up against his former school in the finals of the Filoil Cup as La Salle tangles with San Beda in Sunday’s title game at The Arena in San Juan.

“He’s showing a lot of maturity. The Filoil is a good way where he can gain experience and know how college basketball is compared to high school. But the way he has been playing, we’re quite satisfied,” said Sauler when Spin.ph caught up with him.

“On both ends of the floor you can expect him to defend. You can also expect him to do something on the offensive end,” added the soft-spoken mentor.

Sauler has no idea what other people expects of his prized rookie, but as far as he’s concern, Caracut is a better player than what his numbers are showing.

“I don’t know what the expectations are, but for me as far as the Filoil experience, he gets to learn what we’re trying to achieve and jell with his teammates,” he said.

‘He’s ok but I think there is still room for him to improve and I think he’s a better player than what he is showing,” he added.
