Jeffrey Ignacio settles for second place in China Open

Jun 9, 2014

JEFFREY Ignacio fell short in his title bid as he lost to Chang Yu Lung of Chinese Taipei, 11-5, in the finals of the World 9-Ball China Open in Shanghai.

The 22-year-old Ignacio settled for a runner-up finish after an amazing run by the unheralded Batangas native to the finals of the World Pool-Billiard Association-sanctioned event.

Following the runner-up finish, Ignacio, who is under the stable of Perry Mariano's Bugsy Promotions, is seeking a spot in the World 9-Ball Championship set next week in Doha.

Ignacio defeated compatriot Carlo Biado in the semifinals, 11-6, after beating former world 9-ball titlist Mika Immonen, 11-6, in the round-of-eight to set up the finals match against Chang.

Yu Han of China defeated Ga Young Kim of Korea, 5-0, in the women’s final.
