Dennis Orcollo, four more Pinoys remain in the hunt for World 9-Ball Championship

Dennis Orcollo leads the Filipinos' charge in the round-of-32 of the World 9-Ball Championships.

FIVE Filipinos led by Dennis Orcollo reached the final 32 of the World 9-Ball Championship in Doha, Qatar.

Orcollo rolled past Mishel Turkey of Qatar, 11-1, to join Warren Kiamco, Carlo Biado, Oliver Mendenilla, and Jeffrey Ignacio in the next round of the knockout stage.

Kiamco and Biado, who won a gold medal in the doubles competition of this year’s Southeast Asian Games, beat compatriots Raymund Faraon, 11-9, and Lee Vann Corteza, 11-5, respectively.

But in doing so, the two arranged are likely to meet each in the quarterfinals should they beat their respective opponents in the next round.

Meanwhile, Mendenilla won over Karol Skowerski of Poland, 11-4, while Ignacio beat Jason Klatt of Canada, 11-5.

In other notable results, Mika Immonen of Finland beat Goh Chin Teck of Singapore, 11-3, former champion Ralf Souquet of Germany bowed to Mark Gray of Great Britain, 10-11, and Darren Appleton of Great Britain defeated Ruben Bautista of Mexico, 11-3.
