JONAS Magpantay came out of nowhere and snared the Qatar 10-Ball World Cup on Sunday at Ezdan Palace Hotel in Doha.
"The Silent Killer" stunned Poland's Szymon Kural, 13-9, in the championship match to take home the US$100,000 cash prize.

The 31-year-old cue artist from Bansud, Mindoro Oriental was leading all match long and punished Kural in their safety battle at 2 when the Polish missed on his jump cue, leading to the Pinoy stud to clean up rack 22 and take home the trophy.
He was able to assert control early, leading 6-2 and 11-6 before Kural won the next three racks to get to within two, 11-9. But Kural broke dry in rack 19 as Magpantay run out with the table to get to the hill.

It was a massive payout for Magpantay who had to claw out of Stage 1 to get to the main draw, advancing through points after a 9-0 whitewash of Abdullatif Alfawal of Qatar and a 9-6 win over Naoyuki Oi of Japan.
But he never let up from there, eliminating Oliver Szolnoki, 11-7, in the Last 64; compatriot and reigning world champion Carlo Biado, 11-8, in the Last 32; Wojciech Szewczyk of Poland, 11-5, in the Last 16; Niels Feijen of the Netherlands, 11-7, in the quarterfinals; and Moritz Neuhausen of Germany, 11-6, in the semis.
