EFREN ‘Bata’ Reyes ruled The Break Room 8-Ball Classic in Duluth, Minnesota, beating Dennis Hatch of the US, 15-13, in the final on Sunday (Monday Manila time).
Reyes bagged US$8,000 (around P420,000) in the third edition of the competition that drew 16 players.
In the semifinals, Reyes edged Alex Pagulayan, 15-11.
Reyes, a former world 8-ball champion, didn’t drop a match on his way to the championship, beating Danny Olson, 15-1, in the first match before beatin Vince Chambers, 15-13, to clinch a semifinal berth.
Hatch, a Mosconi Cup veteran, beat reigning champion Corey Deuel, 15-11. He made it to championship via the loser’s bracket, beating Jason Klatt, 15-11.
Dennis Orcollo won the inaugural tournament in 2016.
