DENNIS Orcollo and Antonio Gabica waltzed into the round-of-64, sweeping their respective groups in the WPA World 9-Ball Championship on Tuesday in Doha.
Orcollo defeated Ko Ping Chung of Chinese Taipei, 9-6, in Group 7, while last year’s runner-up Gabica won over Michel Bartol of Croatia, 9-3, in Group 4.
Carlo Biado beat Tom Storm of Sweden, 9-7, to also sweep Group 8, while Raymund Faraon downed Young Hwa Jeong of Korea, 9-7, in Group 9.
Johann Chua defeated Lo Li Wen of Chinese Taipei, 9-6, in Group 13 while Jeff De Luna beat compatriot Israel Rota, 9-3, in Group 14 to claim berths in the final 64.
Another unheralded Filipino Elmer Haya earned a seat in the round-of-64 by beating Artem Koshovyi of Ukraine, 9-8, in Group 16.
