THE Philippines routed China 1, 4-0, on Friday to advance in the finals of the World Pool Team Championship in Beijing, China.
The Filipino bets of Dennis Orcollo, Lee Vann Corteza, and Rubilen Amit completed a sweep of Li He Wen, Wu Jiaqing, Chu Bing Chia, Han Yu and Chen Siming in front of their home crowd by posting wins in dominating fashion.
The Philippines will play either China 2 or Japan in the finals set on Saturday afternoon.
The Filipinos were never threatened in their semifinal match, with Orcollo beating Wu, 6-3, in the 8-ball singles, while Biado and Corteza downed Chu and Li, 6-1, in the 8-ball doubles.
In 9-ball, Corteza defeated Li, 8-3, while Amit shocked the reigning world 9-ball titlist Han, 8-3.
En route to the semifinals, the Philippines beat Chinese Taipei, 4-2.
