CARLO Biado defeated Lin Wu Kun, 11-4, on Wednesday to gain a semifinal berth in the 2018 World 9-Ball Championship in Doha, Qatar.
The reigning world 9-ball champion won the first seven racks and never looked back as he remained in contention to repeat in the year-end tournament.
In the semifinals on Thursday, third-seed Biado will be taking on second-ranked Shane Van Boening after the American dispatched Jung-Lin Chang of Chinese Taipei, 11-8.
In the other bracket, Joshua Filler of Germany bested Albin Ouschan of Austria, 11-6; while Alexandros Kazaris of Greece won over Corey Deuel of the United States, 11-8.
