Carlo Biado highlights another dominant day for Team Asia

Team Asia on the cusp of lifting maiden Reyes Cup trophy after taking a 7-2 lead over Team Europe

CARLO Biado capped off an amazing day two for Team Asia, which seized a commanding 7-2 series lead to close in on the inaugural Reyes Cup early Thursday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium

The 2021 US Open champion capped Team Asia's 4-0 sweep of the second session as he trounced Mickey Krause, 5-3, in singles action to send the adoring crowd home happy.

Biado was just flawless in the final match of the night, completing a runout in rack 7 to get to the hill. He made the Dane pay after Krause committed a foul on the 5-ball as he tried to hit two rails to no avail.

With a ball in hand, “The Black Tiger” cleared the table to wrap up the whitewash and highlight another amazing day for Team Asia, which bounced back in team play with a 5-3 victory over Team Europe.

Team Asia can go for the jugular on Day Three for the maiden crown in this team tournament named in honor of the legend Efren “Bata” Reyes.

The first team to 11 points wins.

This time, it was the hosts which made the comeback, recovering from a 2-0 deficit even after Eklent Kaci’s golden break in rack 2. Johann Chua’s runout got Team Asia going, claiming three straight frames to take the lead.

Ko Pin Yi fouled on the 1-ball in rack 6 that enabled Jayson Shaw to level things up at 3-3, but Kaci also made a costly miscue on the 2-ball in the next rack which opened the window for Chua to clean up the table.

    Francisco Sanchez Ruiz’ dry break handed the reins to Duong Quoc Hoang to secure the first points in Day Two, and more importantly redeem himself from his nightmarish error the day before.

    Ko atoned for his miss in team play as he clipped Sanchez Ruiz, 5-2, in their singles duel.

    With the match tied at three racks apiece, the 2023 World Pool Masters champion went two rails to pocket the 7-ball on the corner to get to the hill, and then took advantage of FSR’s dry break to clean up rack 7.

    Duong and Aloysius Yapp would team up for the 5-2 doubles victory over Kaci and David Alcaide to further put more pressure on the European side.
