Biado, Chua a step away from all-Filipino WPA Players Championship final

Biado, Chua advance to semis of WPA Players Championship

CARLO Biado and Johann Chua beat separate foes to close in on an all-Filipino final in the WPA Players Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Biado, the top pool player of the Philippines, beat Shane Van Boening of the US, 7-4, while Chua beat Duong Quoc Hoang of Vietnam, 7-3, to advance to the semifinals of the event sanctioned by the World Pool Association.

In the semifinals, both will face Taiwanese opponents with Biado facing Yu Lung-chang, and Chua battling Yu Hsuan-cheng.

At stake in the tournament is the $10,000 top prize, or about P510,000.

Biado and Chua began the day with close victories after beating Ching-Shun Yang of Chinese Taipei, 8-6, and Nick Malaj of Greece, 10-9, respectively in the round of 16.
