CARLO Biado is the lone Filipino standing in the 2018 World 9-Ball Championship after beating Konrad Juszczysyn of Poland, 11-7, in the round-of-32 in Doha, Qatar.
Other Pinoy bets in last year’s runner-up Roland Garcia and Johann Chua fell by the wayside leaving Biado as the only one left to carry the Philippine flag in the prestigious tournament.
Biado, the reigning champion, will be facing Wu Jiaqing of China in the round-of-16 on Wednesday with the winner advancing to the quarterfinal round.
Garcia saw his title hopes slip away on Tuesday after being beaten by Albin Ouschan of Austria, 11-8. Chua lost to Wiktor Zielinski of Poland, 11-5, in the round-of-32.
Wu beat Toru Kuribayashi of Japan, 11-6, in the round-of-32 to set the stage for a match-up against Biado.
