DENNIS Orcollo and Lee Van Corteza began their campaign in the World 9-Ball Championships with lopsided victories on the second day of the competitions in Doha, Qatar.
Orcollo beat Majid Gharehgozlou of Iran, 9-1, in Group 16, while Corteza defeated Mohd Ali Berjawi of Lebanon by the same scoreline in Group 13.
Marlon Villamor joined the winners’ circle in Day Two, beating Kong Bu Hong of Hong Kong, 9-4, in Group 15.
Meanwhile, Efren “Bata” Reyes staved off elimination with a 9-4 victory over Shawn Wilke of the United States in the one-loss side.
The 1999 world 9-ball titlist earlier lost to Hsi Kai Lun of Chinese Taipei, 5-9, in Group One action in Day One of the double-elimination format tournament.
Also in the one-loss side, Mark Antony beat Hori Ryoji of Japan, 9-7, in Group Four, while Carlo Biado defeated Saleh Ameen of Qataar 9-4, in Group Six.
Recky Boy Puro was eliminated by Phil Buford of Great Britain, 6-9, in Group 10.
