CARLO Biado provided the silver lining for Team Asia in what was otherwise a forgettable Day 2 showing in the Roobet Reyes Cup early Saturday morning at Makati Coliseum.

'The Black Tiger' prevented a whitewash in what was a superb second day for Team Rest of the World, which took hold of a 6-3 lead in the third edition of this race-to-11 event.

Biado took down Shane Van Boening, 5-3, in their singles match to get the Asians on the board after his team seemingly floundered in the first three matches.

With SVB up 3-1, the American missed his bank on the 7 in rack 5 which opened the window for Biado to stay alive.

Van Boening would leave an open shot at the 2 in the next rack before scratching on his break in rack 7, paving the way for Biado to clean up the table before his break-and-run in the clinching rack 8.

Points for improvement for Team Asia

Aside from that, Team Asia just could not keep up with Team ROW in day two, starting with a 5-3 win in the team match.

Biado left an open shot at the 8, leading to Francisco Sanchez Ruiz getting rack 7 and putting his team on the hill. Duong Quoc Hoang would scratch in the next, setting up Joshua Filler to seal the victory in the eighth rack.

The German continued his killer form with a methodical 5-3 triumph over Robbie Capito in their singles match.

Filler jumped to a 3-1 lead and left little room for error with a break-and-run in rack 6 to go up 4-2. Capito would commit a foul by missing on the 3 in rack 8, allowing Filler to take the match and put his side further up front.

Team ROW would make it three straight after the doubles win of Fedor Gorst and Aleksa Pecelj against Duong and AJ Manas, 5-3.

The visitors established early control by grabbing a 4-1 lead, capitalizing on the sorry misses for the Asians including Duong's missed corner pot on the 8 in rack 3.

Manas had a chance to make the game closer, but his golden break in rack 8 would not to be, as he scratched his cue opening the window for Gorst and Pecelj to sweep the table for the win.

And as if everything could not go the way of the visitors, Filler and Sanchez Ruiz edged the duo of Capito and Albert Januarta, 5-4, in the doubles nightcap.

With the match in a tight 3-3 affair, the Asians got on the hill first after Januarta converted on a 6-8-9 combo in rack 7. But the Indonesian teenager left an open shot on the 2 in the next rack, one that FSR easily got in the long corner.

Capito made up for that in the safety battle at 1 in hill-hill, but Januarta got a bad positioning in the 5, giving the visitors the chance to close the night out on top.
