RUBILEN Amit defeated Angeline Ticolau of Indonesia, 6-3, to win her first three matches in Group 7 of the Women’s World 10-Ball Championship at the Newport Mall in Pasay City.
Amit began her campaign with a 6-4 win over Bi Zhu Qing of China, 6-4, last Thursday before beating Finland’s Marika Poikkioiki, 6-3, on Friday.
The 2009 titlist is one of four Filipinas seeing action in the event which also includes Iris Ranola, and teenage sensations Chezka Centeno, and Gillian Go.
Amit, the former world 10-ball champion, is in the same group with Ranola, while Centeno and Go are in Group 5 and 6, respectively.
In other matches, defending champion Ga Young Kim of Korea beat Mirjana Grujicic of Venezuela, 6-2, in Group 1,while England’s Allison Fisher defeated Korea’s Yu Ram Cha, 6-2, in Group 3.
Forty-eight players are entered in the tournament vying for the prestigious crown.
