RUBILEN Amit remained the only Filipino still unbeaten in what has so far been a lackluster campaign for the Philippines in the China Open in Shanghai on Friday.

Amit defeated Wei Tzu-chien, 7-5, on Friday to keep her perfect slate in a fitting follow-up to her 7-1 win over Wu Tzi-ting Thursday.

Dennis Orcollo, Carlo Biado, and Iris Ranola all suffered losses, but staved off elimination despite being just a loss away from an early exit.

Orcollo defeated Nick Van Den Berg, 9-7, on Friday in Group F of the one-loss side of the bracket to remain in contention. The former world no. 1 was beaten by Gerwen Andreas, 8-9, in the tournament opener.

Biado, meanwhile, trounced Alok Kumar, 9-1, in Group E and bounced back after a 7-9 defeat against Filipino-Canadian Alex Pagulayan.

Corteza, meanwhile, defeated Naoyuki Oi, 9-3, in Group G a day after suffering a defeat against Marcus Chamat.

In the distaff side, Ranola opened with a 7-2 win over Jiang Teng but fell against world No. 2 Shiming Chen, 4-7.
