ZOOS Tokyo proved that it is cut above the rest, reigning supreme at the Manila Hustle 3x3 Season 2 on Sunday at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
Leaning on the one-two punch of Aoi Katsura and Yuuna Onodera, the Japanese side ran away with the championship after a 21-13 victory over Titans in the finals.
Katsura, the MVP of the tournament, dropped eight points as she gained redemption in her second tour of duty in the Philippines, while Onodera dazzled her way to six, including the last three points to clinch the crown and the US$3,000 prize.
Still, it was a valiant effort for Titans which fought its way to the finale despite just having three players on hand in this tournament presented by Uratex and Smart.
Lina Nakazawa paced Titans in the runner-up finish with eight points. They won US$ 2,000.
Onodera also earned her way to the Mythical Three together with Supavadee Kunchuan of Titans and Discovery Perlas’ Joylyn Pangilinan.
Discovery Perlas secured third place after nipping Tokyo Dime, 21-20, in this meet which has the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas as official technical partner, Seiko Prospex as official timekeeper, and B’lue as official hydration partner.
Hazelle Yam of Discovery also ruled the Two-Point Shootout to bag the US$200 prize.
