THE Zamboanga Valientes are determined to make a mark in their inaugural campaign in the National Basketball League (NBL).
The Valientes are set to play in the NBL where the team will be fielding an all-Zamboangueno line-up for the season that will begin on Saturday.
Zamboanga will play its first game in the NBL on Sunday against fellow new team Pasig Rios in Quezon City.
“The players who will play for our team are homegrown Zamboanguenos. This will be an avenue where we can showcase our talents of our fellow Zamboanguenos. We look forward to bringing honor to our city and to make our mark in Philippine basketball,” said Zamboanga team manager Neil Makasiar during a recent send-off dinner for the team.
Das Esa will lead Zamboanga in its NBL campaign as team captain, while former PBA player and Zamboanga native Jonathan Parreno will serve as one of the assistant coaches.
Parreno urged the homegrown talents to make the most out of the opportunity.
“Stepping stone ito. Kilala ko ‘yung iba sa inyo. Laruin niyo lang ang laro niyo at ibigay niyo ang lahat,” Parreno told his players in his brief speech.
