ZAMBALES Eruption got a landmark win, while Tatak Gel Biñan claimed its first victory during separate games of the National Basketball League-Pilipinas Season 2023 Chairman’s Cup at the Jesus Is Lord Colleges Foundation Inc., in Bocaue, Bulacan.
The Eruption defeated Muntinlupa Cagers, 107-105, to win in their very first game in the league, while Tatak Gel Biñan survived Camsur Express, 90-87, to notch its first victory in their second game of the conference.
Allen Fomera had 35 points, while Arnel Bico nailed the game-winning shot with two seconds remaining in the game in an auspicious debut for the Eruption in the league.
Angelo Alanguilan had 28 points and eight rebounds as Tatak Gel Biñan bounced back from its opening day defeat against Eridanus Sta. Rosa last December 1.
John Mark Ondevilla had 34 points for Muntinlupa but it fell to 1-1.
Neil Dela Cruz had 16 points, while Joshua Ayo tied the game at 81 with a three to force overtime for Camsur but it wasn’t enough.
