ZAMBALES Converge completed the cast in the playoffs of the National Basketball League (NBL) Season 2 after beating Imus, 95-79, last Sunday in front of its home fans at the Botolan Peoples’ Plaza.
Allen Fomera topscored with 30 points while Lyndon Del Rosario added 24 points and 17 rebounds for the Fiber X Men, who improved to 9-5 to clinch the sixth seed in the knockout rounds.
The Fiber X Men will meet Iriga City Oragons in a knockout game for a quarterfinal berth on Saturday, also at the Botolan Peoples’ Plaza.
Iriga City clinched the seventh seed after beating the Zamboanga Valientes, 97-68, behind the heroics of Paul Guiruela, who scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Fifth-seed CamSur will face eighth-ranked Imus in the other knockout game for the quarterfinal spot also on Saturday.
The winners in the knockout games will face either third-seed Taguig or fourth-ranked Laguna in the quarterfinals with the Generals and the Pistons holding a twice-to-beat advantage.
Meanwhile, Christian Diaz scored the game-winning lay-up as also-ran Quezon City edged Dasmarinas, 81-78, to finish the elimination round at 10th place with a 6-8 record.
The Rising Stars' win eliminated the Ballers Club from playoff contention.
