YAO Ming feels the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs will meet in this year’s NBA Finals.
Posed with the question during Sunday’s press conference at the Solaire Resort and Casino, the former NBA top rookie pick overall and Houston Rockets star seemed sure about the Heat and the Spurs.
“I personally think the Western Conference champion will be the San Antonio Spurs and the Eastern Conference champion will be the Miami Heat,” Yao answered through an interpreter. “They will go to the finals.”
But on who will win, Yao said that it will be too close to call.
“I think you should try to flip a coin,” Yao said.
Incidentally, Yao didn’t pick the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, who defeated his former team in the first round of the playoffs.
Oklahoma City, however, has been hit with the loss of point guard Russell Westbrook, although the Thunder won their opening game of the Western Conference semifinals against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Meanwhile, Yao met with Vice-President Jejomar Binay in a courtesy call on Monday at the Coconut Palace in Pasay City.
According to GMA News, Binay, who stands at 5-foot-2, was left speechless at the sight of Yao, one of the tallest NBA players in history at 7-foot-6.
Yao handed Binay with a Shanghai Sharks jersey and a basketball during the courtesy call.
