After scoring Seaba-best 40 points, Wutipong Dasom says Thais need 'AAA game' to beat Gilas

WUTIPONG Dasom got an early confidence boost ahead of Thailand's match against the Philippines after dropping a tournament-best 40 points to lead a 102-35 rout over Myanmar in the 2017 SEABA Men's Championship on Monday.

The 6-foot-5 big man lorded over the smaller Burmese side as he made 15 of his 24 attempts to go along with 11 rebounds.

But he knows that he'll no longer be having that advantage come Tuesday as he'll be pitted against players bigger than him in Andray Blatche, June Mar Fajardo and Japeth Aguilar.

That's why Dasom is bracing himself for a rough grind ahead of their showdown, as they shoot for the moon in their attempt in pulling the upset rug on the Philippines.

"When it comes down to it, the Philippines is a team that (even) without plays or without coaching, the players know how to play basketball," said Dasom.

"So in order for us to scare them or challenge them, we have to be composed and play really good basketball. We got to play our AAA game for that," he added.

Though the Philippines got to rest on Monday, the Thai starters will also be coming into the Gilas game a little fresh after seeing limited action in the rout over Myanmar.

For Dasom, getting that much-needed breather is crucial as they take on the regional powerhouse in their biggest game this tournament.

"Well, we got to rest our starters. So hopefully, they will be energized, be focused for the game tomorrow. As for me, like I said, I'll go out and play ball no matter if it's against Myanmar or even against Iran or China I'll play my game and perform," he said.
