Malaysia holds off Thailand for second victory in Seaba Under-16 Championship

MALAYSIA fended off Thailand, 74-62, to score their second win in as many games in the Seaba Under-16 Championship at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Monday.

Wong Thiam Mun, listless in the team's debut on Sunday, starred for the Malaysians with 24 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals.

John Tang scored 16, while Teoh Yi Kang added nine points.

The Thais sliced a 62-53 deficit on an undergoal stab by Natthanon Chayapiwat with 1:49 to go.

But their mini run was halted as Tang unloaded two consecutive three pointers to put the game away.

Hiran Boateng paced Thailand with 12 points on top of seven rebounds and three assists.

Chayapiwat added 12 markers.
