CEU one win away from fourth straight WNCAA title

DEFENDING champion Centro Escolar University beat Rizal Technological University, 66-56, on Sunday in the opener of their best-of-three title series in the 45th WNCAA seniors tournament at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

The Scorpions, unbeaten in eight games this season, try to clinch their fourth straight WNCAA title in Game Two of the series at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

In midgets basketball, defending champion De La Salle Zobel walloped St. Stephen's High School, 49-26, to complete an eight-game elimination round sweep and clinch the first finals slot.

St. Stephen’s (4-3) can claim the second spot in the title series if it beats Poveda on Saturday.

Defending junior champion Chiang Kai Shek College and host La Salle College Antipolo will meet in the best-of-three finals, also on Sunday, after ousting their respective Final Four foes.

CKSC edged Miriam College, 55-51, while LSCA outlasted DLSZ, 60-53.

In senior's futsal, CEU ended RTU's four-year reign with a 2-0 finals win at the Scorpions' homecourt, while Assumption College nipped Philippine Women's University, 1-0, in the battle for third place.
