Wang's Ballclub, Sealions battle for outright semifinal berth in MBL

WANG’S Ballclub and Sea Lions square off for an outright spot in the semifinals on Saturday in the 2014 MBL Open basketball championship at the PUP gym in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Naascu teams Our Lady of Fatima University and Polytechnic University of the Philippines clash at 6 p.m.

The Mandaluyong-based Wang’s Ballclub look to stretch its unbeaten run to five and will again rely on a veterans led by Anthony Cuevas, Erwin Sta. Maria and Edwin Asoro.

Ex-PBA players led by Egay Billones and Nino Marquez lead the way for Sea Lions, which holds a 4-1 win-loss card and hope to match Wang’s ballclub on top.

The Fatima-PUP match feature two young and talented teams now in the middle of preparations for the Naascu season.

Fatima holds a 2-2 record and is the only team to have beaten Sea Lions, 87-61 earlier this month, while PUP is still winless in four outings in the seven-team tournament sponsored by Smart Sports, Ironcon Builders, Dickies Underwear, PRC Couriers, and Zucchero Café.
