Vengeful Team Chris has enough motivation vs Team Marc in Master Game Face All-Star Challenge

    Apr 25, 2014

CHRIS Tiu and Marc Pingris lead their respective teams as a rare collection of players representing Gilas Pilipinas, the PBA, UAAP, and NCAA see action in the Master Game Face All-Star Basketball Challenge.

The two teams face off in an exhibition match to be played on June 21 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Tiu and Pingris are product endorsers of the men’s skin and face care brand which sponsors the one-game meet.

Team Chris will have De La Salle’s Jeron Teng, Ateneo’s Chris Newsome, University of Santo Tomas’ Kevin Ferrer, Far Eastern University’s Mike Tolomia, San Beda’s Rome Dela Rosa, Letran’s Mark Cruz, and Arellano’s Zach Nichols.

Team Marc, on the other hand, includes Andre Paras of University of the Philippines, Jericho Cruz of Adamson, Roi Sumang of University of the East, Jeff Javillonar of National University, Baser Amer of San Beda, Kevin Racal of Letran, and Josan Nimes of Mapua.

The teams of Tiu and Pingris will also be reinforced by PBA players who will be selected through fan votes on Facebook or in the Master online app.

During the light question and answer portion during the event’s media launch on Thursday night at the Treston gym in Taguig City, Tiu admitted looking to bounce back this time after losing in the first Master Game Face All-Star Challenge against the team of Borgie Hermida.

The good-looking Rain or Shine cager will also try to win at the expense of Pingris after his PBA mother ballclub team lost to San Mig Coffee in the Finals of the Philippine Cup.

“Kinapos kami by one point. Masakit, kasi I knew that we controlled the entire game. Pero ngayon, gusto kong makabawi kay Marc. Natalo kami sa Game Six, eto ‘yung chance ko na makabawi,” said Tiu.

“Medyo pisikal kami hindi katulad ni Chris,” said Pingris in jest as he tried assessing his team. “Malakas sila pero mas malakas kami.”

Unilever Male Grooming brand manager Jonathan Pua said the second edition of the All-Star Game will be bigger and better.

“As the number one male face care, male facial wash, and face cleaner brand in the country, it is natural for us to come up with an activity featuring the number one sport - basketball,” said Pua.

“We are proud to invite fans to see Master ambassadors Chris Tiu and Marc Pingris battle for an epic showdown, where their respective squads of top collegiate hoops and All-Star players from the Gilas team and professional basketball groups will be reinforced.”

While Tiu has been a product endorser of Master for years, Pingris is glad to work with the facial brand product.

“Masaya ako kasi kahit sa probinsya lang ako naglalaro noon, na-i-involve ako sa mga ganito,” Pingris said.

Tickets will be available on May 31 at TicketNet or could be obtained by purchasing Master products in participating SM Supermarkets nationwide.
