AFTER the highly successful Collegiate Cup, Pinoyliga Cup is returning with competitive leagues that will cater to different levels of basketball action this second half of 2023.
Pinoyliga competitive leagues set
First is the PLC Clubs tournament, which aims to bring back the element of having the defunct Philippine Basketball League level commercial league that will be a preparatory league for age group and collegiate level players.
“This tournament will prepare players before they enter the professional ranks either here in the country or outside. We don’t have this kind of league ever since the PBL closed shop,” said Pinoyliga chief Benny Benitez.
“It can also serves as a second chance opportunity for pros who still has it in them, that they can showcase they still can contribute.”
Currently the confirmed teams for the PLC Club meet are Kick-Start Brew Crew, Shoe Crew, Firewire, Bridgestone, Boracay de Laiya, True Boss and Exile.
“Lets work to slowly bring the club level to when there was a PBL,” said Benitez.
“We need to have that developmental jump off point before our players take their talent to the pros or even outside the country,” he added.
Aside from the club tournament, Pinoyliga will also have the Junior’s Cup, the Women’s Cup, Collegiate Pockets, Next Man cUP, Pinoyliga Combine, 3x3 and the Challenge Series in the final months of the year.
