ZAMBOANGA Valientes is looking to end its campaign in The Asian Tournament with a bang as it signed former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins as import in next week's meet in Zamboanga.
Cousins arrived on Friday from Taipei where he helped steer the Taiwan Mustangs to the Leg 4 title of the meet behind a five-game sweep.

"It's official. DeMarcus Cousins will play for Zamboanga Valientes in the grand finals of The Asian Tournament," team owner Junnie Navarro said.

Cousins however, begged off from speaking to the media as he still haven’t had a rest since playing in the final game of Leg 4 on Thursday night at the Taipei Heping gymnasium.
The 33-year-old Cousins won an Olympic gold as part of Team USA in the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Games and two years earlier, was also with the same American Team which bagged the gold in the FIBA World Championships in Seville, Spain.
A four-time All-Star and twice an All-NBA Second Team member, Cousins was the no. 5 overall pick in the 2010 draft by the Sacramento Kings.
He also played for New Orleans, Golden State, Houston, LA Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Denver Nuggets.
The Valientes are bent on claiming a championship before the inaugural season of The Asian Tournament comes to a close that they went out of their way to get the services of the 6-foot-10 product of Kentucky.
Cousins will team up with the likes of former UAAP MVP Malick Diouf, Ricky Bryce, and former PBA players Mike Tolomia, Franky Johnson, Rudy Lingganay, and Mac Belo during the grand finals set from August 5-10.
