SINA Vahedi is grateful to be called as the best point guard in Asia today.
And the Iranian national is also proud to play for a country where a player of the same stature not too long ago came from.
“Yeah. It feels great because it’s all about my national team,” said the 6-foot-1 guard of the distinction accorded to him.
“I hope to keep playing the game with the Iran national (team).”

Vahedi found himself headed to the Philippines and play as the Asian import of Meralco in the EASL Home and Away Season 3.
Of course, the country once boasted having the best point guard in Asia in Jason Castro, who was given the honor not just once but twice.
Aside from being the heir to Castro’s throne, the 24-year-old native of Tehran says he's feeling the love from the passionate Filipino basketball fans.
“(Filipino) fans are really great. When I play here, I feel great and fell the love of the fans,” said Vahedi, who was part of the Iran team that competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The Iranian could further captivate the hearts of Filipino fans – Meralco supporters, most especially – should he help steer the Bolts to the post-season of the EASL.
The Bolts are close to making the playoffs for the first time especially if they get past the Ryukyu Golden Kings on Wednesday at the conclusion of the tournament’s group stage.
Meralco needs to win over the Japan B. League side by six points or more to make it.
Vahedi is expected to be a major part of it especially as he averages 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and a league-leading 2.0 steals in three games with the team.
Actually, the Bolts have not lost since the Iranian national team member came on board.
And he hopes to keep it that way when they face Group B leader Ryukyu Golden Kings (4-1) on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Vahedi, who’s been in the country since January, hopes the fans will come out and support the home team.
“I hope they (fans) come to the game. They are crucial to the win,” said Vahedi, who was constantly present in Meralco games during the Philippine Cup playoffs.
