MACAO – Sina Vahedi is looking to complete with the New Taipei Kings what he missed out on at Meralco in the East Asia Super League.
The Bolts’ previous Asian import has been tapped by the Kings to boost their championship bid in the EASL Finals which goes underway Wednesday at the Tap Seac Multi-Sports Pavilion.
The 25-year-old member of the Iran national team and considered the best point guard in Asia right now suited up for Meralco in four games during the group stage.

Upon coming on board, he helped the Bolts win three win a row, before unfortunately losing in the team’s must-win game against the Ryukyu Golden Kings, 88-79, to bid goodbye to Meralco’s playoff hopes.
Vahedi averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in his stint with the Bolts.
Now he’ll try his fortune with the team representing the Taiwan Professional Basketball League.
Meralco coach Luigi Trillo said he’s aware that EASL rules allow teams to sign players of teams eliminated in the group stage.
“Yes, alam ko allowed yan,” he told Spin.ph.
Although he’s not aware on how Vahedi got signed up by the Kings, Trillo is nonetheless happy about the former Meralco guard’s quest to win an EASL championship.
“I don’t know his situation but I’m happy for Sina,” he said. “Mabait yan at very professional.”
Vahedi makes his debut with the New Taipei Kings in the quarterfinals where they will take on the Utsunomiya Brex for a spot in the semifinals opposite Alvark Tokyo.
