THE Prime Asia-University of the Visayas Green Lancers completed a sweep of the first round of eliminations with an 85-46 rout of Raphael’s Sports Café-University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars in the 2013 Enervon-Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Partner’s Cup Saturday night at the Cebu Coliseum.
The easy win gave UV a clean 5-0 (win-loss) record, while dealing USJ-R its fifth loss in as many games.
UV raced to a 15-5 lead after the first 10 minutes of play and never looked back.
Veteran guard John Abad and forward Chris Perolino combined for 20 points in the third canto, outscoring the entire USJ-R team to erect a 53-33 lead.
Jasper Diaz led USJ-R with 11 points.
Meanwhile, second-running Gaisano Capital South-University of Cebu Webmasters also finished with a flourish as they beat the Lion Tiger-University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers, 84-76. It was the Webmasters’ fourth win in a row after an opening-day loss to UV.
Kido Cabrera and Christian Tanparong were instrumental in a 13-3 breakaway in the fourth that buoyed the squad to the win. Tanparong finished with 15 off five three-pointers while Cabrera had 12 markers.
USPF finished the round with a 1-4 record.
