UNIVERSITY of Sto. Tomas scored its first victory in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Season Cup while keeping Jose Rizal University winless, 98-88, on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Renzo Subido had 24 points as UST made the win column after two losses.
Kenneth Zamora, Enrique Caunan and Nat Cosejo each had 13 markers, Marvin Lee and CJ Cansino each added 12 and Zach Huang chipped in 10 points for UST.
“This is a big win, first time namin manalo eh,” said UST coach Aldin Ayo.
“After three tries nakaisa na.”
Darius Estrella had 22 points, while Jarvy Ramos and RY de la Rosa combined for 22 markers for JRU, which absorbed its fourth loss in as many games.
