UNIVERSITY of the Philippines is leveling up with its preparation for the UAAP as the Fighting Maroons are scheduled to train in Las Vegas.
UP coach Bo Perasol said the Fighting Maroons will be training at the Impact Basketball of renowned trainer Joe Abunassar for the very first time.
UAAP champion Ateneo and NCAA titlist San Beda also have been including a stop at Impact Basketball in its calendar the past few years.
Perasol said the team is now working on their US visas for the trip.
“May naka-schedule kami sa US. We would like it to happen before the UAAP but the challenge lang is ‘yung visa. But we already have a sponsor,” said Perasol, who also thanked 8990 Holdings of JJ Atencio for supporting the trip.
Fresh from their two offseason titles in Davao and Malolos, the Fighting Maroons are looking to continue their winning ways as they try to form a competitive team for UAAP Season 80.
The Maroons are looking to reach the Final Four for the first time since 1997.
“Minsan ‘yung travelling together, malaking bagay sa team dynamics. Nagkakakilala sila, hindi lang sa court, nagkakaroon sila ng personal connection which is important.
“Kailangan namin na they are travelling together, eating together kasi hindi nangyayari ‘yan sa practice kasi hindi lahat nagdodorm at hindi kami naka-house together,” said Perasol.
