UNIVERSITY of the Philippines handed new coach Bo Perasol his first win in defeating Far Eastern University, 67-61, on Wednesday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Paul Desiderio and Dave Moralde led the way, scoring 14 points each in the Maroons first preseason victory that carried the team to a 1-1 card.
UP coach Bo Perasol spoke highly of the win despite being in the preseason stage.
“What’s important is we understand that we can compete with anybody. This is big for us, although we all know that this is just one game. This is big for our mindset,” Perasol said.
“That might not be the defending champion but it is something we can believe in that we beat the defending champion although that’s not the best that FEU can give,” he added.
Lionel Tekaoudjou and Diego Dario also contributed 10 points each for the Maroons in the victory.
Monbert Arong finished with 14 points for the struggling Tamaraws, who fell to 1-2 win-loss slate.
