BAYUGAN CITY — The University of the Visayas Green Lancers dominated the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 95-74, at the start of the Bayugan City Mayor Kim Lope Asis Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament 2017 on Tuesday at the Lope Asis Gym.
The Green Lancers scored 13 unanswered points in the first quarter for a 30-13 lead.
Reigning Cesafi MVP Rey Suerte worked with skipper Josue Segumpan, Tristan Albina and new recruit Gileant Delator to score one basket after another during that telling stretch.
Albina, UV’s recruit from Dumaguete, scored 15 points while three other Green Lancers scored in double figures.
Suerte, Segumpan and Delator, who just moved from the University of Cebu, scored 10 points each.
Jerome Garcia scored 16 to lead the Generals while Francis Munsayac added 11.
The Xavier University Crusaders defeated the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers, 100-93, in the tournament that offers P200,000 to the champion.
