UNIVERSITY of St. La Salle overcame Tay Tung High School, 90-79, to claim the Region IX crown of the SM-NBTC Regional Championships presented by Freego at the Natalio G. Velez Gym in Silay, Negros Occidental.
Anthony Antipatia scored 11 points as the Stingers upended last year’s region champion Tay Tung.
USLS will represent its region in the Division 2 National Championship set March 13 to 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Stingers built a 23-14 lead in the third quarter, were up 64-54 entering the final frame, and overcame an 8-0 run by the Thunderbolts at the start of the fourth.
