AN OPPORTUNITY to represent the Philippines is at stake when the 2017 Under Armour 3x3 Southeast Asia Tournament holds its Manila leg on April 28 to 29 at the Bonifacio Global City.
Triple PTE LTD (exclusive distributor of Under Armour Southeast Asia) executive director and co-founder Adrian Chai said the champion of each of the legs gets a chance to be selected to be part of the national team for the Fiba 3x3 Under-18 Asia Cup presented by Under Armour on May 26 to 28 in Cyberjaya Gem-in Mall in Malaysia.
Chai said any team can play in the Manila leg so long as it was able make in the 72 slots for male and 33 for female available for the tournament.
The champion team will also receive $1,000 or P36,000 aside from getting the chance to be selected for the national Under-18 3x3 team.
“Any kid on the street, if you win this, you are part of the national squad,” said Chai during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum.
With support from different national federations including the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Under Armour will hold a similar tournament in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Each player who signed up for the tournament will receive a set of Under Armour teamwear and a 25 percent discount on Under Armour footwear including the latest Curry 3 shoes.
