UNIVERSITY of the East defeated Centro Escolar University, 85-77, on Monday in Tanauan City to move into the next phase of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League Luzon-Metro Manila qualifiers.
The Red Warriors will next face University of Batangas, which defeated Lyceum-Subic, 88-81, earlier in the day to advance into the second round of the stepladder playoff on Tuesday in Tanauan City.
Meanwhile, National University and University of Perpetual Help square off at 4 p.m. Tuesday to begin their PCCL campaign in Tanauan City in a battle of fourth placers in the UAAP and NCAA, respectively.
The winner of the NU-Perpetual Help match-up will face either UE or University of Batangas.
The winner of the stepladder playoffs will represent the Luzon-Metro Manila region in the PCCL Final Four against UAAP champion De La Salle, NCAA titlist San Beda, and Southern Islands winner Southwestern University.
