UNIVERSITY of the East showed no signs of fatigue as it dispatched National University in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup, 78-74, on Friday in San Juan.
The Red Warriors endured playing three games over the last five games, winning two in the process to improve to 3-4 under new coach Joe Silva.
"Well, first off, when I started to take over, what I told them was to compete. Pakita natin yung Warrior pride," said Silva.
"Sabi ko nung halftime, we've been clawing and going toe-to-toe with our opponents that is why we deserve to win," he added.
Alvin Pasaol and Rey Acuno led the second-half assault for UE as the pair found their second wind, just roughly 24 hours after losing to the University of the Philippines.
Pasaol was once again at his absolute best as he finished with 22 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead the Warriors.
Acuno came off the bench to finish with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists as Jojo Antiporda added 14.
Dave Ildefonso led the youthful Bulldogs with 14 points and three steals as JV Gallego chipped in 11 points. John Lloyd Clemente and Shaun Ildefonso added 10 points apiece for the 3-5 Bulldogs.
