CENTRO Escolar University targets its seventh straight win when it takes on Colegio de San Lorenzo in the second round of elimination in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) on Saturday at the Olivarez Sports Center in Paranaque City.
The CEU Scorpions have the decided advantage in manpower and experience but coach Yong Garcia is not taking the CDSL Griffins lightly when they clash at 2 p.m.
For one, the Griffins are coming off an 81-51 dismantling of the Diliman College Blue Dragons for their first back-to-back wins in the tournament sponsored by Euro-Med and Lamoiyan Corp.
They finished the first round elims with a 3-3 card to tie Olivarez College for third to fourth places in the seven-team event.
Buoyed by their recent win, the Griffins vowed to get back at the Scorpions who beat them, 89-71, in the first round.
Led by Rod Ebondo and Karlo Casino, the Scorpions capped a dominating first round show with a 76-61 drubbing of the Olivarez Sea Lions exactly a week ago.
Clashing in the first game at 12 p.m. are Bulacan State University and Diliman College – both sporting similar 2-3 cards.
