NCAA Season 93 juniors Most Valuable Player Will Gozum has committed to the University of the Philippines, the Fighting Maroons said in a statement.

The 6-foot-6 Gozum, who had played for UPIS, returns to Diliman after a successful stint with Mapua.

"There's no place like home," said Gozum.

Gozum will be reunited with former UPIS teammates Javi and Juan Gomez de Liano as the Maroons continue the rebuilding process.

"I believe in the rebuilding program of the UP Men's Basketball Team. I miss playing alongside my former teammates Juan and Javi whose family is very close close to mine and, of course, there is no question about the academic excellence of the school," said Gozum.

The 18-year-old Gozum averaged 13.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks for the Red Robins in 2017.

He was also part of Mapua's championship team in 2016.

UP coach Bo Perasol said Gozum is an integral part of the Fighting Maroons' bid to form a competitive team in Season 81.

"This is very good news, not only for the team but, also, for the entire UP community. As you can see, we are doing everything we can to get to the top, one small step at a time," Perasol said.

"With Will joining us, we hope to get there faster," he added.
