CEBU CITY - University of the Visayas continued its giant-killing ways as it added NCAA runner-up Arellano University to its growing list of victims, 95-88, in the Elite Eight stage of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) on Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.

A day after trouncing UAAP champion National University, the Green Lancers kept their momentum going by downing the Chiefs to register their second victory against a lone loss in the tournament.

Two-guard Franz Arong led the way for the Green Lancers with 28 points, 15 of which came in the second period when UV built a 41-31 halftime lead.

John Abad added 17 markers, import Steve Akomo had 16, while Rhaffy Octobre added 15 for the Lancers.

Jovanie Jalalon, the NCAA's Most Improved Player, led the Chiefs with 26 markers. However, the team only got a measly eight points from usually reliable big man Dioncee Holts.

The scores:

UV (95) - Arong 27, Abad 17, Akomo 16, Octobre 15, Segumpan 10, Perolino 3, Codilla 2, Aguirre 2.

AU (88) - Jalalon 26, Gumara 13, Salado 13, Nichols 9, Holts 8, Manga 5, Hernandez 4, Cadavis 4, Ortega 4, Salcedo 2.

Quarterscores: 24-13; 41-31; 64-58; 95-88.
