UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas rector Fr. Herminio Dagohoy has confirmed that Boy Sablan is no longer the head coach of the Growling Tigers beginning next month.

In a report by The Varsitarian, Dagohoy said Sablan's tenure will end on November 30 even if he has a live contract that extends until the end of May.

“In spite of the unsuccessful season for the Tigers, we thank them for their contributions to our program,” Dagohoy told The Varsitarian in a message.

The Growling Tigers went 4-24 (win-loss) including a 1-13 campaign in Season 80 during the tenure of Sablan, a former UST player and assistant to one-time head coach Pido Jarencio.

The Varsitarian also reported that former PBA D-League coach Arsenio Dysangco, currently an assistant coach of the UST women’s basketball team, will oversee UST’s practices in the meantime.
