THE University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) high school basketball players will get the privilege of a lifetime when they share the court with NBA star Stephen Curry during his visit to Manila on September 5.

UPIS coach Allan Gregorio said the Junior Maroons have been picked by Curry’s sponsor Under Armour to be part of the one-day Manila tour of the reigning NBA MVP from the Golden State Warriors.

“It’s such an honor and privilege for team UPIS Junior Maroons to be alongside champion athlete and NBA MVP Steph Curry in a basketball court together,” said Gregorio.

Curry will be in Manila for a one-day tour dubbed the ‘The UA Roadshow featuring Stephen Curry.’ Aside from Manila, Curry will also be in Tokyo, Beijing, Chongqing, and Shanghai in a whirlwind Asian promotional tour.

The Asia Tour, Curry's first since leading the Warriors to their first NBA title since 1975 by beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games, is expected to attract a huge crowd considering the rise in the young guard's popularity.

Gregorio said it will be a big boost for the Junior Maroons in the coming UAAP season to be part of the Curry tour. UPIS is looking to improve on its performance after winning just two games last year.

“This should inspire our boys to achieve more and count God’s blessings,” said Gregorio.
