UPIS confident UAAP board will order replay of game vs UST which it lost by default

UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Integrated School has been given assurance its UAAP Season 78 juniors basketball game against University of Santo Tomas which it lost via default will be replayed at a later date.

UP representative to the board Ronnie Dizer expressed confidence the match will be replayed following the assurance given by tournament host Far Eastern University.

Nonetheless, the school will still formalize its appeal to the board.

“Aappeal kami sa board for rescheduling. I think it will be favorable. Mark Molina (FEU athletic director) and Mam Josie De Leon (FEU’s representative to the UAAP board) gave us some sort of an assurance na baka ma-replay. May misgivings din on both sides,” said Dizer.

UPIS lost to UST via default after the team failed to show up for its 9 a.m. game on Saturday at the Blue Eagle gym.

In the original schedule released on November 5, the game was set at 1 p.m. but a revised schedule released on November 10 had the tip-off time moved to an earlier date.

Dizer explained there was miscommunication on both sides, saying there was never a confirmation from UP that it received the revised schedule.

“Alam mo naman na you can’t rely on e-mail lang. Siguro nagkamali. A revision was sent to our secretary pero siguro may oversight. Dapat kasi may confirmation. At saka dapat may hard copy ang coaches na they have signed,” said Dizer.
