UNIVERSITY of the Philippines coach Bo Perasol remained in high spirits despite the daunting task ahead for the surging Maroons, who next face powerhouse La Salle in the UAAP Season 79 basketball tournament.

“UP Fight na lang,” said Perasol, drawing laughs from reporters, when asked how the Maroons intend to stop the Green Archers' unbeaten run on Saturday.

UP carries a two-game win streak to their match against La Salle after beating Adamson, 70-66, on Wednesday. But Perasol is well aware of the Maroons chances against the Archers, which beat them by 18 points in their first meeting this season.

“Our next game will be our toughest,” said Perasol.

UP improved to 3-6 following the big victory over Adamson, moving to sixth in the standings and just a game behind the fifth place Falcons (4-5).

But despite the tough odds of beating La Salle or cracking the Final Four, Perasol remained confident as the Maroons have shown improvement in the second round, especially in closing out games after winning their last two games by an average of four points.

“Katulad ng binanggit ko, I think we are better than our 1-6 record (sa first round) before. It is showing right now because I really believe that what we have right now is enough to be able to contend and compete every game against tougher opponents,” said Perasol.
