A PUNCHING incident marred University of the East's 69-62 win over University of Santo Tomas to claim the last Finals berth in the UAAP Season 80 women's tournament on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

With just four seconds remaining in the game, UST’s Sai Larosa threw a punch but thankfully missed her target, UE’s Love Sto. Domingo, near the Tigresses bench.

Three Lady Warriors entered the playing court in Anna Requiron, Princess Pedrigosa and Erica Abaza to come to Sto. Domingo's defense. Good thing the incident didn't escalate further and cooler heads eventually prevailed.

Larosa was expectedly ejected for the punch as Requiron, Pedrigosa and Abaza were thrown out as well for entering the playing court.

"Sinabi ni coach, huwag na akong pumatol kasi kung pumatol, magiging ganun din ang attitude ko," said Sto. Domingo, who was the runner-up in the MVP race this season.

"Pikon kasi siya e, so ang akin, hindi naman ako katulad nila. Iba kami pinalaki ni coach," she added.

Sto. Domingo led all scorers with 18 points as they set a duel with the unbeaten National University Lady Bulldogs on Wednesday.
