Kiefer Ravena gets nod as UAAP Player of the Week for sparking Ateneo resurgence

NOT even an aching left ankle and the thought of facing a team known for its stingy defense could stop Kiefer Ravena from sustaining Ateneo's second-round turnaround in the UAAP.

Facing his tormentors from last season's Final Four, Ravena shot the lights out in the first six minutes and sustained the momentun to lead the Blue Eagles to a vengeful 68-59 victory over the National University Bulldogs on Sunday.

The reigning league MVP scored Ateneo's first 21 points in an amazing stretch where he hit six three-pointers  before finishing with 32 points in a performance which could go down as one of the best offensive outbursts this season.

That earned Ravena a citation as the ACCEL Quantum/3XVI-UAAP Press Corps Player of the Week after leading the resurgent Blue Eagles to their third straight victory.

"I guess it's just one of those nights. I was taking off-balanced shots and I was making them," Ravena said.

Ravena edged out University of Santo Tomas star Kevin Ferrer, Adamson's Papi Sarr and Far Eastern University’s Mac Belo for the weekly individual honor.
